Upon completion of relevant coursework, the student must demonstrate psychomotor skills related to patient physical examination, care, and treatment.

Additionally, the student must be able to physically ensure the safety of themselves and patients at all times including meeting the acceptable standards of universal precaution and sterile technique.

The student must have the cognitive abilities necessary to master relevant content in the basic sciences and clinical courses at a breadth and depth determined by the PA profession. These skills may be described as the ability to comprehend, memorize, apply, analyze, and synthesize material.

The student must be able to develop reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills appropriate to the practice of medicine as a PA and must possess the ability to read, count, calculate, and measure.

Upon completion of relevant course work, the student must demonstrate the ability to question logically, to identify, generate, and evaluate elements of logical argument, to recognize and differentiate facts and assumptions, and to distinguish the relevant from the irrelevant. The student must demonstrate personal attributes of caring, integrity, and cultural competence. The student is expected to interact with others i. The student must be able to accept and respond to constructive criticism and resolve conflicts in a socially acceptable and professional manner.

Upon completion of the relevant coursework, the student must be able to understand and demonstrate the basis and content of professional PA practice. The student must possess the skills of a reflective practitioner including the ability to self-assess, self-correct, and self-direct; to identify needs and sources of learning, and to continually seek new knowledge and understanding.

The faculty of the PA Program recognizes its responsibility to present candidates for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies degree who have the knowledge and skills to function in a broad variety of clinical situations and render the full spectrum of medical care as an entry level PA practicing medicine on health care teams directed by physicians.

Daemen continues to have a human cadaver lab taught by a full-time anatomist. Various clinical experiences are available, including partnerships with hundreds of sites in the Buffalo area and New York State. Its professional program builds upon and reinforces the intellectual qualities acquired through study of the liberal arts, social, and natural science while integrating the Competencies of the Physician Assistant Profession throughout the curriculum. A first-year student is admitted as a B.

Natural Science — Health Sciences major. Four academic semesters, at a minimum, are required to complete the prerequisite coursework and core curriculum requirements.
